05.01.18 - SuprNova Shut Down
New Features / Changes
- Due to MPAA and other issues, SuprNova.org, as well as most other bittorrent sites related to movies, have been shut down. This means iFlix can no longer retrieve torrents from Suprnova.
- TVTorrents is still active, but now with a new url. As of this writing, www.tvtorrents.tv is not working, but http://w2.tvtorrents.tv:8081/ is working, tho not reliably.
- Due to the above and other issues, we have temporarily halted active development of iFlix. It is still an excellent tool to catalog Flix, and we use it often to organize our 500+ DVD collection holding 2000+ flix and tv shows.
04.08.12 - v1.52 Available
New Features / Changes
- A drawing problem (status display) that we thought was just in a specific version of java is also present in the latest version (1.4.2_05-141 from software update)... This causes the status display to be located at the bottom of the window (as it should be), but we believe a java/apple bug causes it to not redisplay properly (works under Windows. This version puts the status display in the light gray area as it was with prior java versions on Mac OS X.
- With this new version of java and/or OS 10.3.5, the iFlix window no longer appears in "apple silver" on Mac OS X. We will look into this issue, but it is simply a cosmetic issue.
04.06.15 - v1.51 Available
New Features / Changes
- Minor Bug Fix - Preferences were not accessible for Windows / Linux users - they are now present in the edit menu...
04.06.03 - v1.50 Available
New Features / Changes
- Added Multiple Instance Support which allows you to run multiple instances of iFlix, one for your files, another for your [internet] flix, making it *much* easier to manage what you have and what you want! Please see the knowledge base for details.
- New View Options allows you to fine-tune your iFlix view with just the fields / columns you're interested in!
- Added cancellable progress dialog to the following tasks: adding files / folders, retrieving imdb data, retrieving internet flix data, downloading torrents, finding moved files, renaming / synchronizing files.
- Added view menu items and keyboard shortcuts for sorting flix by name, date, location, and size.
- XML/RSS feeds are now used for internet flix, which should allow iFlix to work better behind firewalls and allow future expansion as more Flix-related XML/RSS feeds become available.
- Seeds / Downloaders (s/d) moved from Name column to Notes column for internet flix.
- On sale for just $17.95, limited time offer!
04.05.27 - v1.48 Available
New Features / Changes
- Finally, the much-requested feature View Options (bottom of the view menu) allows you to fine-tune your iFlix view with just the fields / columns you're interested in!
Just bring up the dialog that displays a list of the fields that you can view (id, name and size are required), and add/remove from the list!
iFlix must quit when you change view options, but for most people this shouldn't be a problem as we tend to change them very rarely.
If you want to reset your view options back to defaults, make a change, say no when asked if you want to save them, then yes to the reset view options dialog.
Enjoy!
04.05.20 - v1.47 Available
New Features / Changes
- Fixed a bug in synchronize filenames if the displayed name had an extension.
- Added cancellable progress dialog to the following tasks: adding files / folders, retrieving imdb data, retrieving internet flix data, downloading torrents, finding moved files, renaming / synchronizing files.
This dialog will only appear if the task is longer than a few seconds. On Mac OS X, pressing escape if a progress dialog appears dismisses the dialog and does not stop the task. To stop the task, you must press the cancel button.
- Added view menu items and keyboard shortcuts for sorting flix by name, date, location, and size.
04.05.17 - v1.45 Available
New Features / Changes
- Added Synchronize Filenames with Displayed Names feature (Advanced Menu) - this feature can rename any flick file to the name you have assigned to it - use with caution as there is not an undo feature! - Thanks to B. Whitson for this suggestion, and we have already used it ourselves! The flix must, of course, be accessible (online) and not on CDs/DVDs. This is very handy for anything you have downloaded using BitTorrent so you can give your filenames meaningful / consistent names.
Use iFlix's Find/Replace, Prepend, and Append to change multiple item names, then when you have them all as you'd like, use the Synchronize feature and you'll then be even more organized!
- Added a preference Always Ask For Torrent Download Folder - if true, iFlix will always ask where to download torrents - handy if you have multiple computers downloading using Azureus setup with Auto-Downloading
04.05.15 - v1.44 Available
New Features / Changes
- iFlix now includes a feature we're calling iTVO that, in combination with your automatable BitTorrent client such as Azureus, allows you to "Record" your favorite TV Shows, then use iFlix to keep them organized! Please see the updated documentation for more details!
- Added support for .vob files by user request
04.05.08 - v1.43 Available
New Features / Changes
- New Database command to create a new, empty database wherever you wish
- Several bug fixes & wording / menu changes
04.05.03 - v1.42 Available
New Features / Changes
- Typing in the source list selects the first matching list
- Get Info displays each item in a window, rather than web browser
04.05.01 - v1.41 Available
New Features / Changes
- New view menu allows you to open a new "snapshot" view of whatever your current flix list has in it. This is very useful for comparing what you have to what you want, helping to know if file(s) are online or on CD/DVDs, etc.
04.04.29 - v1.40 includes TV Torrents
iFlix now includes information on the latest (usually the latest 25-30) tv torrents - download your favorite tv shows as soon as they're posted, usually within an hour of airing!
To access these, choose Manage Internet Genres, add, scroll to the bottom and add TV Torrents. The information is from an XML RSS feed that includes the name, date added, and torrent url. Use the download torrents menu item or press command-t to download the torrent.
Add the following smartlist query for instant access to this genre:
genre LIKE %TV Torrents%
When you refresh your internet genres, the TV Torrents will appear at the top of the list.
04.04.28 - v1.36, User's Guide Rewritten
v1.36 had a few minor bug fixes, but we just completed a major rewrite of the user's guide with lots of pictures. Please review it as it explains a lot about iFlix.
Enjoy!
04.04.25 - v1.35 available
New Features / Changes
- Open / Save As Database Functions
- Built in News Feed Window
04.04.17 - v1.30 available
New Features / Changes
- File/New changed to allow adding an IMDB flick - just type in a few words of the title, and iFlix will contact the IMDB
- Reveal menu added for all platforms (was OS X only). On non-OS X platforms, reveal should open the folder containing the item you are trying to reveal
Internet based flix / genres up again
- Some menu rearrangement
04.04.15 - v1.29 available
New Features / Changes
- Find Similar - With most cells selected, for example webid, genre, name, etc., you can now use the Find Similar command to find all Flix with contents similar to what you have selected
- Copy/Paste to/from clipboard & fields - You can now use the clipboard to copy/paste from/to most cells - This required a new item Paste Rows if you want to paste a selection of items into a regular (non-smart) list
- Paste column values uses first cell value as default - The paste column values command allows you to easily set field values, and the default text now comes from the first cell selected
Enjoy!
04.04.14 - v1.28 available
New Features
- Find IMDB ID for item - If an item has no IMDB (Internet Movie Database ID), the first time you choose Retrieve IMDB Data (Shift-Command-I), you'll be asked if you want to search the IMDB for an ID based on the item name. This function just adds the IMDB ID to the item, you need to perform the same command again to actually retrieve the data, but we recommend you first browse (command b) to the IMDB page to make sure you chose the correct flick first.
- Find lost files accept torrents - The find moved files feature now allows you to find moved torrents (that you have downloaded) in addition to movies
- Add IMDB ID To Filename - This feature can add the IMDB ID to the filename of any flick file - This only works for writeable files not on CD/DVDs, but this ID will allow iFlix to help you manage duplicate files (same flick, different quality, etc.)
Bug Fixes
- When trying to reveal a file that has been moved, iFlix asks if you want to locate it. If you said yes, it used the wrong file size.
Enjoy :-)
04.04.12 - v1.27 Includes New Client/Server Modes
This new version allows you to run iFlix in 1 of 3 modes, accessible from the Tools menu:
- Stand Alone - this is the default mode and is the fastest way of running iFlix - you can't share your iFlix data with other iFlix users on your network
- Server - this is the 2nd fastest mode, and allows other iFlix users on your network to connect to and use the same database as the server
- Client - this is the slowest mode, and allows you to enter in the IP address of the machine running iFlix as a server on your network
These features can be very useful if, like us, you have several machines on your LAN and want to be able to share the iFlix database among them for downloading, playing, or other reasons.
